The OM6 Series modular signal conditioner makes interfacing a sensor to a computer serial port as easy as turning a screwdriver. These self-contained digitizing signal conditioners provide isolation, ranging, an serial digital communications for thermocouples, RTDs. millivolts, volts, an current. Up to 16 modules can be plugged into a backplane, which connects to a computer serial port via an RS-232 or RS-485 interface.

The three input modules cover everything from voltage (+15mV to +50 V) and current inputs (0-20 an 4-20 mA) to thermocouples and RTDs. Each module is field configurable by software for range, sensor type, calibration, and communications format. The analog I/O modules work in conjunction with a single, four or 16 channel backplane, available with either an RS-232 or RS-485 communication link to the host computer. For discrete I/O requirements, the OM6-DIO backplanes provide 24 channel of digital I/O. For isolation an signal conditioning, these backplanes connect dirctly to solid state I/O module bakplanes. Multiple backplanes may be daisy-chained together for implementing high-channel capacity systems with up to 256 modules on the network. The OM6 system is ideally suited for distributed process measurement applications. Since the backplanes interconnect via an RS-485 link, the OM6 network may extend up to 4000 feet. Utility software included with the OM6 system provides easy communication with the modules.
